In the late hours of a Monday night in Macon, Georgia, the tranquility of Freedom Park was shattered by an act of violence that claimed the life of 39-year-old Jarvis Kentral Curtis. On May 13, 2025, just after 11:30 p.m., deputies from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the park in the 3300 block of Roff Avenue following a report of a person down by the lake. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr. Curtis suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite any efforts to assist him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jarvis, a father and a man described as a loving person who enjoyed the outdoors, particularly fishing at the very park where his life was taken, was known to keep to himself. His death left his family, including his loving companion, Lakeshia Faulk, searching for answers. Faulk described him as a quiet individual who did not bother anyone and expressed her disbelief and sorrow over his sudden and violent passing.
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office immediately launched a homicide investigation into the fatal shooting.
