In the early morning hours of October 4, 2023, David Lamar Morgan, a 58-year-old male from Cochran, was found with gunshot wounds at the Safe Haven Mobile Home Park on Glendale Avenue in south Macon. He was visiting someone at the mobile home park and did not reside there. Emergency services transported him to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
His daughter, Chastity, remembered her father as someone who, despite his flaws, had a gift for making people laugh and
bringing happiness to those around him. She lamented the fact that her children would never get to know their grandfather and that she had just begun to rebuild her relationship with him. His obituary described him as a beloved family man known for his generosity and his protective nature over his loved ones. He had a passion for motorcycles, his dogs, and spending time with his family.
The investigation into his death continued for nearly two years before a breakthrough came from a tip to Macon Regional Crimestoppers. In July 2025, the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 44-year-old Tyrone Jerry Briscoe in connection with Morgan's death. He was charged with murder and was also wanted on other charges in Jones and Bibb Counties, including trafficking methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Just six days after Briscoe's arrest, his 19-year-old son, Tylon Andrevious Alexander, was also taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals and charged with murder. The following month, a third suspect, 22-year-old Dontae Brown, was arrested and charged with murder as well. Brown also faced unrelated charges for terroristic threats and property damage. All three men were booked into the Bibb County Jail and are being held without bond. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding David Lamar Morgan's death is ongoing.
