In the early hours of an April morning in Washington, D.C., a tragedy unfolded that would cut short the life of 55-year-old Maurice Tyner. On Saturday, April 5, 2025, at approximately 12:36 a.m., officers from the Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 900 block of Mount Olivet Road, Northeast, following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a male victim, later identified as Tyner, suffering from a gunshot wound.
At the time he was found, Tyner was conscious and breathing.
Emergency medical personnel from DC Fire and EMS quickly arrived on the scene and transported him to a local hospital for urgent medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical professionals to save his life, Maurice Tyner succumbed to his injuries the following day, on Sunday, April 6, 2025. Tyner was of no fixed address.
The Metropolitan Police Department has launched a homicide investigation into Tyner's death. As of now, authorities have not released any information about potential suspects or made any arrests in connection with the shooting. The police are actively seeking information from the public to help solve the case. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this fatal shooting.
