In the early evening of Monday, January 13, 2025, the life of Landen Rudy Mayo was tragically cut short on a street in Washington, D.C. A young man of 27 years, he was in the 4500 block of Quarles Street, Northeast, when the sound of gunfire shattered the neighborhood's calm at approximately 6:38 p.m. When officers from the Sixth District arrived at the scene, they found Mayo conscious and breathing, but suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Emergency services were quick to respond,
and he was transported to a local hospital in an effort to save his life. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the injuries proved to be too severe, and Landen Mayo was pronounced dead. The initial shock of the incident gave way to a homicide investigation launched by the Metropolitan Police Department.
In the days that followed, the police department reached out to the community for assistance, hoping to piece together the events that led to Mayo's untimely death. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this violent act.
