On a Thursday afternoon, May 4, 2023, tragedy struck in Southeast Washington, D.C., forever altering the lives of one family. Carlos Latney, an 18-year-old Black male from Accokeek, Maryland, was found lifeless in the 5600 block of B Street, SE. The Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call for a man down at approximately 3:40 p.m. and discovered Latney suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
