In the early morning hours of June 3, 2024, the life of 23-year-old Jahy-Eim Jimenez Smith Davis, a Black male from Seaford, Delaware, was tragically cut short in Laurel, Delaware. The fatal incident unfolded around 1:22 a.m. at the Little Creek Apartments, where a large crowd had gathered. In an act of sudden violence, an unknown individual or individuals began firing multiple shots into the assembled group.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they discovered Jahy-Eim behind one
of the apartment buildings, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead. In the chaotic aftermath, a second victim, a 26-year-old man, independently sought treatment at a local hospital for a single gunshot wound; his injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
The bullets fired that night not only struck two people but also damaged several vehicles and nearby buildings, creating a scene of widespread disarray. The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is actively investigating the shooting.
