On a Sunday afternoon, January 29, 2017, the life of 18-year-old Mekell Horsey, a Black / African American male, was tragically cut short in his hometown of Laurel, Delaware. The fatal incident occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. in the Wexford Village Apartment Complex located on Sunset Drive. Horsey was discovered with a gunshot wound to the chest and was later pronounced dead. The Delaware Division of Forensic Science conducted an autopsy and officially ruled his death a homicide.
