Mark Lamonte “Mont” Mecham, age 67 at death, was a Green River Police Department lieutenant from Green River, Wyoming.
On October 14, 1996, the male officer was shot in the neck with a shotgun while he and another officer entered a residence to question a suspect in the killing of 31-year-old Tawnya “T” Sidwell; the other officer, Sgt. Dave Hyer, was shot in the arm. The shooter barricaded himself in the home's attic before surrendering to responding tactical officers.
