Santee Renwick, 24, a Black/African American male, was shot on the afternoon of March 28, 2025, near Lobdell and Bradford Streets in Wilmington’s Southbridge neighborhood. Officers were dispatched around 2:38 p.m. and found him suffering from multiple gunshot wounds; he was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition and later died.
In the days that followed, Wilmington Police homicide detectives, led by Detective Brendan Shea, pursued leads that would shape the case.
By late April, investigators identified two suspects: 20-year-old Quadre Wright and 18-year-old Amir Morris. Wright was taken into custody on April 17 in the 400 block of South Claymont Street without incident, while Morris—already being held at the New Castle County Detention Center on an unrelated matter—was indicted by a New Castle County Grand Jury on May 27.
Prosecutors charged both men in connection with Renwick’s killing. According to police and court filings reported at the time, Wright faced counts including first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, two counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, and second-degree conspiracy; he was ordered held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $2,000,000 cash-only bail. Morris was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, and second-degree conspiracy, and remained in Department of Corrections custody on $1,000,000 cash-only bail.

Authorities continued to emphasize that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
