In the autumn of 2024, the life of a young Black man, Jahseim JaQuest Tawiia Cherry, was tragically cut short at the age of 22. On the morning of October 20, 2024, at approximately 11:20 a.m., reports of a shooting drew Bridgeport police to the 200 block of Goddard Avenue. There, they discovered Cherry with a gunshot wound to the head.
