On a Saturday afternoon in New Haven, Connecticut, the life of 23-year-old Shamar Willett, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short. On December 7, 2013, police responded to a call at a second-floor residence on Harding Place around 1:30 p.m. and found Willett with a gunshot wound to his chest.
