An African-American female living in Omaha, Nebraska, Darnesha was known by her loved ones as a kind and caring individual. She worked as a cook at the Douglas County Hospital, where she dedicated her time to taking care of others. Her father, Lamont Marion, described her as a "lovely person" who never bothered anyone.

on that cold January morning, police were called to a home near 33rd and Fowler. Inside, they found Darnesha suffering from a gunshot wound. She was rushed to the hospital, but her injuries proved to be fatal, and she was pronounced dead. Her death was part of a violent night in Omaha that saw another fatal shooting just an hour later.
Darnesha's family and community were left reeling from the senseless act of violence. In the wake of her death, her family set up an account to help with funeral expenses.
