A 19-year-old Black / African American woman named Dontayzhia Swift was killed in a shooting on the night of October 4, 2023, in Omaha, Nebraska. The incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. in the vicinity of the 3700 block of Grand Avenue. Officers from the Omaha Police Department were alerted to the sound of gunfire in the area by multiple activations of the city's ShotSpotter system.
