Daetiauna Kellogg was a young woman with a bubbly personality, known for a beautiful smile that could light up any room. The 20-year-old Black woman, known affectionately as "Booka" to many and "DaeT" to her close family, was remembered by her mother as an independent, energetic, and headstrong go-getter who fiercely loved her family. A May 2020 graduate of Burke High School in Omaha, Nebraska, she had earned her Certified Nursing Assistant license.
Above all, she was a devoted mother to her five-year-old son, Dre’Vonce Kellogg.
In the early hours of November 6, 2022, Daetiauna's life was tragically cut short by gun violence. Just before 2:30 a.m., Omaha police responded to a shooting near 49th Avenue and Miami Street. Officers arrived to find Daetiauna with severe injuries. She was rushed to the Nebraska Medical Center in extremely critical condition, but she later succumbed to her injuries.
According to testimony from an Omaha police detective, Daetiauna had been in a vehicle with three men that morning. After the car stopped in a church parking lot, she and one of the men exited and began to walk away. Seconds later, another man from the vehicle, identified as Keanu Louis, allegedly got out, followed the pair, and shot Daetiauna.
The investigation led to the identification of two suspects. On November 24, 2022, police arrested 22-year-old Cameron Foster. The second suspect, 18-year-old Keanu Louis, was apprehended in Seattle, Washington, on December 7, 2022, by a joint team of the Omaha Metro Fugitive Task Force and the U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force. Louis was extradited back to Omaha. Both men were initially charged with first-degree murder. Louis also faced charges for use of a weapon to commit a felony and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
In October 2025, Cameron Foster pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of attempted second-degree murder. Two months later, in December 2025, a judge sentenced him to serve 30 to 50 years in prison for his role in Daetiauna's death.
Keanu Louis proceeded to trial on the first-degree murder charge. In March 2026, the trial concluded with a hung jury after the jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict. This was the last reported development in the case.
