On a summer morning in Omaha, Nebraska, the life of 26-year-old Shalonna Houston, a Black female, was tragically cut short. On August 12, 2022, police were called to the Florence Tower apartments at 5100 Florence Boulevard around 8:45 a.m. in response to a shooting. Inside one of the apartments, they discovered Shalonna Houston, who had been fatally shot.
The Omaha Police Department's Homicide Unit immediately began an investigation into her death.
Their efforts quickly led to the identification of a suspect, 20-year-old Davon Brown. The day after the shooting, authorities issued a felony arrest warrant for Brown, signaling a significant development in the case.
Just a few days later, on August 15, 2022, the Omaha Police Homicide Unit announced that they had arrested Davon Brown. He was taken into custody in connection with the death of Shalonna Houston. Brown was charged with second-degree murder and the use of a weapon to commit a felony, facing serious legal consequences for his alleged role in the death of the young woman. The arrest brought a swift, though not final, development in the quest for justice for Shalonna Houston.
