Beverly Wortmann, a 24-year-old woman, was tragically murdered on December 7, 1977, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was returning to her apartment after purchasing cigarettes when she was attacked. The assailant, later identified as Anthony Joe LaRette Jr., stalked her to her residence before entering and stabbing her 19 times. The brutal assault culminated in her throat being slashed before the perpetrator fled the scene.
