On October 8, 1974, Laura Louise McClendon, a 22-year-old African American woman, was brutally murdered in her Fort Worth, Texas apartment. The perpetrator, Kenneth Granviel, was a family acquaintance who had known the McClendon family for approximately three years. On the evening of the crime, Granviel entered the apartment under the pretense of visiting and requesting a glass of water. Once inside, he produced a knife and initiated a series of heinous acts.
