On July 9, 2023, a tragic incident unfolded at an event center near Southwest 45th Avenue and Georgia Street in Amarillo, Texas. A private party was underway when a fight erupted among attendees, escalating into gunfire. Seven individuals sustained gunshot wounds; 32-year-old Semagea D. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene, while 28-year-old Dequincton T. Taylor succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
