On the night of April 23, 2016, Bianca Jimenez, a 23-year-old from Fort Worth, Texas, went out with a friend, Alexis Ortiz, to a local bar. While they were at the bar, Bianca received text messages from Anna Ramos that included explicit photos involving her ex-boyfriend, Joseph David Rodriguez (nicknamed "Loke"). The photos seemed to spark a strong emotional reaction from Bianca.
Driven by anger, Bianca decided to confront her ex-boyfriend, and she and Alexis headed to Loke’s house on Selene Street. During this initial confrontation, Bianca got into a physical altercation, punching Loke, but Alexis ultimately intervened and drove them away.
However, still upset, Bianca insisted on returning to Selene Street later that night. Upon their return, they encountered Emilio Albarado, who was driving with another individual identified as "Appellant" in the passenger seat. The situation escalated when the Appellant threatened to shoot Bianca and Alexis if they didn't leave the area. Despite the threat, Bianca got out of her car and shouted back at the Appellant. In response, the Appellant fired at her. The gunshot hit Bianca in her lower abdomen, and she collapsed at the scene. Unfortunately, Bianca died later that day due to the resulting blood loss and vascular damage.
There were multiple witnesses to the incident, including Alexis, Emilio, and Token, who was on the phone with the Appellant during the shooting. Alexis testified that she saw the Appellant shoot Bianca, while Emilio, who had grown increasingly uncomfortable with the escalating situation, claimed that the Appellant had only intended to scare Bianca and Alexis. Nonetheless, the Appellant was charged and eventually found guilty of murder, receiving a sentence of forty years in prison for his role in Bianca's death.
