On March 1, 2013, Derrick Dewayne King, a 31-year-old African American male, was fatally shot in front of a residence at 517 10th Court North in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred following an argument about a cell phone.
Derrick King was born on March 17, 1981, and his life was tragically cut short just weeks before his 32nd birthday. His funeral services were held on March 9, 2013, at St. Joseph Baptist Church, with burial at Oakland Cemetery.
