In the spring of 1982, the life of a young woman named Angela Monroe was tragically cut short in Kansas City, Missouri. On May 15, the 19-year-old African American mother of two was killed. At the time of her death, she was pregnant with her third child. The father of her children and the man responsible for her death was her ex-boyfriend, Terry Blair.
The fatal encounter occurred at 1205 Linwood Blvd, where an argument between Monroe and Blair escalated into brutal violence.
In a fit of rage, Blair beat her to death. He would later confess that his anger stemmed from her work as a prostitute. For years, her case remained a painful memory for her loved ones, a stark example of domestic violence spiraling into the ultimate tragedy.
Justice for Angela Monroe, though delayed, was not denied. On February 1, 1991, Terry Blair was arrested for her murder in Portland, Oregon. He was subsequently convicted and handed a 25-year prison sentence for killing the mother of his children. Despite being granted parole on multiple occasions, Blair repeatedly violated its terms, leading to his re-incarceration. His violent tendencies did not end with the death of Angela. During one of his releases, he committed another murder and was later convicted of killing six other women in the Kansas City area between 2003 and 2004, earning him the moniker of a serial killer.
