Leslie N. Patrick, a 29-year-old male police officer in Dallas, Texas, died on June 11, 1901. Officer Patrick was attempting to arrest a man for stealing a horse when a struggle ensued. During the altercation, the suspect pulled out a handgun and struck Officer Patrick on the head with it, causing the weapon to discharge and fatally wound him. He was transported to his home and later to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries two days later.
