Sergeant Richard Allen Beck, aged 45, was a dedicated officer with the Vernon Police Department in Vernon, Texas. On November 17, 1991, while responding to a domestic disturbance call at Yamparika Street and Sand Road, he was tragically shot and killed by a suspect. Sgt. Beck had served with the police force for 12 years and was survived by his wife, daughter, and son.
