Phonsavahn Noy Phetsavahn, a 45-year-old woman of Laotian ethnicity, tragically lost her life on June 7, 2014, in Amarillo, Texas. She was killed in an apparent double homicide at her home on Jasmine Street. Phonsavahn's husband, Phetkeo Phetkeo, aged 52, was also found dead at the scene from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
The Amarillo Police Department responded to the scene around 12:13 a.m. after receiving reports of shots fired.
Phonsavahn was found injured and was taken to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The male victim, Phetkeo, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the tragic incident, the Amarillo Police Department launched an investigation to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the deaths. On June 18, 2014, the police arrested Nga Lone Aung, a 38-year-old man, in connection with the double homicide. Aung was charged with the murders of Phetkeo Phetkeo and Phonsavahn Phetsavahn. He was later indicted and faced murder charges for the couple's slaying.
The investigation continued as the Special Crimes Unit sought additional information and evidence to build a strong case against Aung. The community was left in shock and disbelief as neighbors and friends struggled to come to terms with the senseless violence that took the lives of Phonsavahn and Phetkeo.
The case highlighted the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement to ensure justice for the victims and their families. The Amarillo Police Department urged anyone with information about the murders to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
