Charlesetta Telford, a 38-year-old woman from Amarillo, Texas, tragically lost her life on June 19, 2016. She was shot multiple times at the Plum Creek Apartments, and despite being rushed to a local hospital, she succumbed to her injuries. Charlesetta was four months pregnant at the time, and her unborn child did not survive.
The investigation into her death led to the arrest of Anthony Dwion Richards, who was charged with capital murder.
Richards admitted to shooting Telford with a 9mm handgun during an argument with his girlfriend, Jessica Black. The evidence, including matching cartridge casings from a previous shooting incident involving Richards, linked him to the crime.
In addition to Richards, another suspect, Billy Ivy Jr., was arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with Charlesetta's death. Jessica Black was also issued a capital murder warrant for her involvement in the case.
The case remains under investigation, and the efforts of the Amarillo Police Department's Special Crimes Unit have been crucial in bringing the suspects to justice. Charlesetta's family continues to seek closure and justice for her untimely death.
