On May 29, 2024, at approximately 1:25 a.m., Amarillo police responded to a report of a male with a gunshot wound at the Toot 'n Totum convenience store located at 2601 SW 3rd Avenue. The individual, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the hand, informed officers of another potential victim at a residence in the 100 block of North Bowyer Street.
Upon arrival at the specified address, officers discovered 50-year-old Rosa Maria Rangel deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.
The investigation led to the arrest of 37-year-old Jesus Cristoval Alonzo Flores, who was charged with her murder.
Subsequent reports indicated that Flores was indicted for murder in connection with Rangel's death. Authorities also sought to question an individual named Anthony Cassanova regarding the incident.
Rosa Maria Rangel, born on November 13, 1973, in Hereford, Texas, was affectionately known as "La Hermosa" and "Momma Rosa." She attended Palo Duro High School and was recognized for her warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories for her family and friends.
