In the early spring of 2009, the life of a Nashville teenager was violently cut short in what remains an unresolved case. Sixteen-year-old Brandon D. Simmons, an African-American male, was killed on the evening of Tuesday, March 31, 2009. The incident that led to his death began with a chase that ended in the yard of a residence at 1726 Edgewood Avenue. It was there, at approximately 9:00 p.m., that Simmons was shot.
