Genaro Covarrubias, a 33-year-old Hispanic male from San Antonio, Texas, tragically lost his life on December 7, 2014. He was fatally shot alongside Darlene Robinson, 34, in the 2300 block of Delgado Street. The couple was killed by Darlene's ex-boyfriend, Christopher Doss, who was later killed by a Bexar County sheriff's deputy while serving a capital murder warrant.
The incident occurred when members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force were attempting to serve the warrant at the Relax
Inn in the 500 block of Roosevelt Avenue. Upon entering the room, Doss attempted to grab a gun, prompting the deputy to shoot and kill him. The tragic event left behind two daughters of Covarrubias and two sons and two daughters of Robinson.
The case drew significant attention due to Doss' prior criminal history, including a 1994 murder conviction in another alleged love triangle in Tarrant County. Despite the sorrow and grief experienced by the families, the community came together to remember the couple and offer support.
In the aftermath, there were no further arrests or litigations related to Covarrubias' death, as the primary suspect, Doss, was killed during the incident. The case was closed with the understanding that justice was served through the actions of law enforcement.
