On January 26, 2024, the Bexar County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call reporting a man lying on the road in the 9500 block of South WW White Road in southeast Bexar County, Texas. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 31-year-old Albert Anthony Soliz with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. The area was notably desolate, with no vehicles present or evidence indicating how Soliz arrived at the location. Emergency Medical Services pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigators noted that Soliz had been involved in a robbery just days before his death. Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle at the scene that matched the description of one linked to the earlier robbery. This connection led deputies to a residence approximately two miles from where Soliz's body was found. On January 28, during surveillance of the residence, deputies observed 39-year-old James Guerra leaving the house. When they attempted to stop him, Guerra fled, resulting in a pursuit that ended in a crash. He was subsequently arrested and charged with evading arrest.
Further investigation revealed that Guerra was a suspect in the prior robbery case. Another individual, 18-year-old Matthew Fitzgerald Williams, was also identified as being involved in the robbery. On February 15, deputies arrested Williams at a residence in east Bexar County. Both Guerra and Williams were questioned regarding Soliz's homicide. Based on the information obtained, murder warrants were issued for both individuals, who now face charges related to Soliz's death.
In a related development, authorities arrested a third suspect, 18-year-old Michael Jasso, in connection with a separate homicide that occurred on the same day as Soliz's murder. Jasso, along with Guerra and Williams, is accused of fatally shooting 43-year-old Mando Rodriguez during a dispute over a drug transaction involving methamphetamine. This incident took place at a residence on San Luis Street in San Antonio. All three suspects now face multiple charges, including murder, as law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding these cases.
