Aadam Xirsi, a 50-year-old Somali man, was found shot to death on January 17, 2019, in the driver's seat of a Yellow Cab in the parking lot of a thrift store in Windcrest, San Antonio, TX. The driver's side front window had been shattered by a bullet, and Xirsi had one leg dangling out of the open door. Investigators believe Xirsi operated the taxi and are reviewing security camera footage and the taxi driver's log to determine what led to the shooting.
No weapon was found inside the vehicle, and the type of firearm used in the killing remains unclear.
The murder of Aadam Xirsi is still an unsolved case. Windcrest Police Chief Al Ballew stated that the investigation is ongoing, and police are working to identify any suspects involved in the slaying. The local Muslim community, where Xirsi was well known and respected, has been left wondering if his death was a hate crime, but without an arrest, they don't know for sure. Xirsi's family in Somalia is seeking answers and justice, and his youngest son has expressed a strong desire to find his father's killer.

He came to the U.S. from Somalia about 15 years ago and left behind three children and a wife. The community continues to hope for information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of Xirsi's killer.
