Robert Cisneros, a 21-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity, tragically lost his life on May 17, 2016, in Abilene, Texas. The incident occurred at the Abilene North Apartments in the 3400 block of Vogel Avenue. Cisneros was fatally shot in the chest during a fight that broke out among a group of people at the apartment complex. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the incident, Jared William Dean Dykes, an 18-year-old from Anson, was identified as the shooter.
Dykes was arrested on an outstanding warrant for burglary of a building out of Jones County, and later charged with murder after two witnesses identified him as the person who shot Cisneros. Dykes eventually pleaded guilty to the murder and received a 24-year prison sentence.
In addition to Dykes, Kobe Tayler Poston, an 18-year-old, was also indicted in connection with the incident. Poston was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for his involvement in the shooting. He was held in the Taylor County Jail in lieu of a $75,000 bail bond.
