On May 10, 2023, 41-year-old Abilene resident Eric "Quat" Tonche was fatally shot in the 5100 block of Capitol Avenue. The incident occurred during a confrontation involving Tonche, his associate Rolando Solis, and Marvin Jones Sr. According to court documents, Solis and Tonche were in a vehicle when they were approached by Jones Sr., with whom Solis had prior issues.
