Ga Young Chon, a 58-year-old woman of Korean ethnicity, was tragically shot and killed on August 8, 2016, in Austin, Texas. The incident occurred at an illegal gambling game room located on Wagon Trail near North Lamar Boulevard. According to the Austin Police Department, Chon was running the illegal gambling operation, and the shooting was believed to be a robbery attempt.
Two suspects were involved in the crime: David McKinley, a 25-year-old man, and Shalonda Scott, a 23-year-old woman.
