On July 5, 2001, in Austin, Texas, a tragic incident occurred that resulted in the death of 17-year-old Veronica Vasquez. Veronica, a female student at Reagan High School, was fatally shot by 17-year-old Oscar Rangel, who then took his own life shortly after. The incident was classified as a murder-suicide, and police investigations revealed that Rangel had shot Veronica and another 16-year-old girl, Nancy Venegas, before ending his own life.
