Rio B. Jauregui-Ellis, an 18-year-old from Kansas City, Missouri, was tragically shot and killed on March 19, 2012, near Budd Park. The Kansas City Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the park and found Jauregui-Ellis' body near Denver Avenue. Witnesses reported hearing several shots fired, including some from what seemed to be large-caliber weapons, and saw two black males fleeing the scene in a dark SUV, possibly driven by a white female.
