Do you know who murdered Victoria Brown?
In the chill of a January evening in Kansas City, Missouri, the lives of three individuals were tragically cut short in a brutal act of violence. On January 12, 2017, inside a third-floor apartment at the Trails at the Ridge apartment complex, 29-year-old Darrell E. Thomas was killed in what police would investigate as a triple homicide. The violent encounter also claimed the lives of 28-year-old Victoria Brown and 20-year-old Ali R. Brown. Two others, another adult female and Ali Brown's 2-year-old son, were also shot but miraculously survived their injuries.

Police were dispatched to the apartment in the 8600 block of East 62nd Street shortly before 10 p.m. after reports of gunshots. Neighbors later recounted hearing a series of pops around 9:30 p.m. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a grim scene. Inside the apartment, there were no signs of forced entry. Darrell E. Thomas and Victoria Brown were found deceased. Ali Brown was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Her young son, who was shot five times, and the other adult female were also hospitalized with serious wounds.

The investigation into the quintuple shooting began immediately, with detectives seeking to unravel the events that led to the bloodshed. While a motive was not initially released by investigators, family members of the victims offered their own theories, speculating that Darrell E. Thomas, who had a criminal history, may have been the intended target of the assailants. It was noted that Thomas and Victoria Brown had previously been in a relationship.

In the aftermath, police sought the public's help in identifying three suspects who were believed to have been let into the apartment on the night of the murders. One suspect was described as a Black man with a light complexion and shoulder-length dreadlocks. The second was described as a Black male who was wearing a light gray hoodie, and the third was also identified as a Black male. The suspects were thought to have fled the scene in a black or blue four-door vehicle. Despite the ongoing investigation and pleas from the victims' families for answers, the case remains unsolved, and no arrests have been publicly announced.
