Jesus Coronado-Sanchez, a 30-year-old Hispanic male, was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017, in Amarillo, Texas. Coronado-Sanchez was standing in the driveway of a residence in the 2600 block of Rule Street with a group of friends when he was shot in the upper body. He died at the scene.
The Amarillo Police Department and the Special Crimes Unit identified two suspects in connection with the homicide: Vicente Ortiz, 30, and Cristian Omar Villaloboz,
21. Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Potter County Detention Center. Police determined that Coronado-Sanchez was involved in a dispute with another person, which they believe led to the shooting.
An autopsy was ordered by Potter County Justice of the Peace Richard Herman and was scheduled to be performed in Lubbock. Investigators found evidence of a vehicle speeding away from the scene, including skid marks and bullet holes in the residence's vinyl siding.
