On the evening of May 8, 2018, the tranquility of a Dallas neighborhood was shattered by a tragic event that claimed the life of Quincy Earl Jones Sr., a 39-year-old Black male. Born on January 19, 1979, Quincy was a native of Dallas, Texas, and had built his life within the community he cherished. He was discovered in the front yard of a residence in the 8300 block of Glen Regal Drive, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. Despite the prompt arrival of emergency services, Quincy succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Witnesses recounted that prior to the incident, a group of men had gathered in the front yard where Quincy was later found. The sound of gunshots pierced the night, leading to the grim discovery. The Dallas Police Department initiated an investigation, appealing to the public for any information that could shed light on the circumstances surrounding Quincy's untimely death. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the case remains unsolved, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew him.
Quincy's life was one of dedication and love. He was a graduate of H. Grady Spruce High School in the Dallas Independent School District and had been a committed employee of the City of Dallas for a decade, serving in both the Park & Recreation and Waste Management Departments. His professional endeavors reflected his commitment to enhancing the community he called home.
Beyond his professional life, Quincy was a family man. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jamie Jones, and their son, Quincy Earl Jones Jr. He also leaves behind his mother, Charlotte Gauthier Banks; father, Michael Jones; brother, Cody Clark; niece, Cali Clark; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and colleagues who cherished his presence. His passing was not the only sorrow his family endured that day; his mother-in-law, Sherly Gallon, was also called to glory on May 8, 2018, compounding the family's grief.
The community gathered to honor Quincy's memory with a visitation on May 18, 2018, followed by funeral services on May 19 at Singing Hills Funeral Home-Chapel in Dallas. He was laid to rest at Restland Memorial Park, also in Dallas, where family and friends paid their final respects to a man remembered for his warmth, dedication, and the love he shared with those around him.
