Ivan Garcia, a 17-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity, tragically lost his life on June 18, 2020, in Dallas, TX. He was found lying on the floor of the apartment breezeway at the Villas Del Tesoro Apartments with multiple gunshot wounds. According to the police, Garcia and another person were followed to his apartment by unknown suspects. For reasons still unclear, Garcia jumped out of the moving vehicle, causing it to crash into a building.
The suspects then chased the other person to Garcia's apartment building, where Garcia attempted to intervene and was shot by one of the suspects.
The investigation revealed that the suspects were wearing masks and fled the scene before the police arrived. Detectives continued their investigation, and on July 1, 2020, Anthony Nino, 18, and Juan Nava, 21, were arrested on murder charges in connection with Garcia's death. Both suspects gave voluntary statements to homicide investigators, and they were each held on a $500,000 bail.
The case remains under investigation, and authorities are still seeking additional information to bring all responsible parties to justice. Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment. The community continues to mourn the loss of Ivan Garcia, whose life was cut short by this senseless act of violence.
