Luis Alberto Rodriguez Tomayo, an 18-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity, tragically lost his life on September 23, 2018, in Austin, Texas. He was fatally shot in the head while hanging out with friends at the Paris Hookah Lounge in North Austin. The incident occurred around 4:07 a.m. when multiple shots were fired from a passing vehicle, striking Rodriguez Tomayo and two other individuals.
Despite being rushed to Dell Seton Medical Center, he was pronounced dead later that day.
The shooting was treated as a homicide, and no arrests have been made to date. Police have not established a motive for the shooting, and it appears that none of the victims were involved in any confrontation prior to the incident. The Travis County Medical Examiner’s office conducted an autopsy, but the case remains unsolved. A $1,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.
Detectives continue to investigate the case and have urged anyone with information or video footage of the incident to come forward. The Austin Police Department has provided several methods for individuals to anonymously share any relevant information, including contacting Crime Stoppers or sending an email to the Homicide Division.
