Michael Deshawn Daniels, a 40-year-old man from Dallas, Texas, was tragically shot and killed on November 23, 2018. He was found suffering from a gunshot wound on the front porch of a residence in the 500 block of Woodacre Drive. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Daniels succumbed to his injuries later that night.
The incident occurred around 7:21 p.m., and upon arrival, police officers discovered Daniels in critical condition.
Detectives conducted a thorough investigation, canvassing the neighborhood and interviewing witnesses, but no immediate suspect description was released. The case was assigned to Detective Frank Serra, and the public was urged to come forward with any information.
In the following months, significant developments took place in the investigation. On December 2018, Jason Young, aged 36, was charged with capital murder in connection with the shooting. According to arrest warrant affidavits, Young claimed that he and an associate known as "Lil A" had arranged to meet Daniels and another individual to purchase marijuana. During the encounter, an altercation ensued, and Young alleged that "Lil A" returned fire, hitting Daniels.
Further investigation led authorities to identify "Lil A" as Ahmard Jackson, aged 34. Jackson was subsequently charged with capital murder in February 2019. Jackson had a criminal history, including convictions for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, evading arrest, and driving with an invalid license. At the time of his arrest, he also had outstanding warrants for unpaid traffic fines.
The case remains a focal point of law enforcement efforts, with Dallas police continuing to seek additional information and potential witnesses.
