On August 14, 2020, in Dallas, Texas, 26-year-old Michael Jones was fatally shot. Around 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a shooting call at 3900 Harston Street. Jones had sustained a gunshot wound and was transported by a personal vehicle to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Following an investigation, Dallas police arrested 27-year-old Mitchell Austin in connection with the homicide.
Austin was charged with first-degree murder and transported to the Dallas County jail, where his bond was to be set by a Dallas County judge.
In a separate incident on November 18, 2020, 28-year-old Mark Albert Mitchell Martin was shot at 2728 Cedar Springs Road in Dallas. He was transported to an area hospital by Dallas Fire-Rescue but succumbed to his injuries on December 13, 2020. The suspect, 25-year-old Isaac Matthew David Aguirre, was initially arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Following Martin's death, the charges were upgraded to murder, and an arrest warrant was issued for Aguirre.
Earlier that year, on August 9, 2020, 19-year-old Jaymauze Spencer was found in a parking lot in the 12000 block of Jupiter Road in Dallas, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital but died from his injuries. Witnesses identified 22-year-old Jamaal McCullough Jr. as the shooter. McCullough was arrested at the scene, confessed to the shooting during an interview with detectives, and was subsequently charged with murder.
These incidents highlight a series of fatal shootings in Dallas during 2020, each resulting in arrests and charges against the identified suspects.
