Kristen Askew, a 26-year-old woman, tragically lost her life on May 2, 2021, in Houston, Texas. She was fatally shot in the parking lot of a convenience store located at 2002 Runnels Street. Kristen had left her apartment at 1900 Runnels Street to buy some items when she got into an altercation in the parking lot, which led to her being shot. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the incident, the Houston Police Department identified and questioned a person of interest seen in
surveillance video leaving the scene. This individual, described as a white or Hispanic male on a bicycle, was later released after it was determined he had no information regarding the shooting. The investigation continued, and on May 14, 2021, Treimaine Trey Morris, a 25-year-old man, was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a weapon. Morris was on probation for a prior conviction for aggravated assault.
