Arely Sotelo Navarrette, a 37-year-old woman of Hispanic ethnicity from Odessa, Texas, tragically passed away on January 8, 2022. Arely is survived by her children, Mariah Nicolas, Christian Nicolas, and Sebastian Nicolas, as well as her parents, Martina Navarrete and Juan A Sotelo, and her siblings.
On the day of her death, the Ector County
Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance call at the 11000 block of Layla Lane. Upon arrival, they found Samuel Adrian Chavira, 35, in the front yard and a deceased woman, later identified as Arely Sotelo Navarrette, in the master bedroom. Chavira admitted to shooting Arely during an argument, and a 22 caliber pistol and shell casings were found at the scene. Chavira was arrested and charged with murder, a first-degree felony.
Initially, Chavira posted bail on a $250,000 bond but was re-arrested and his bond was increased to $750,000. The case has drawn significant attention in the local community, and the investigation continues as authorities work to ensure justice for Arely Sotelo Navarrette.
