On the evening of December 9, 2025, Jessica Rodriguez, a 39-year-old Hispanic female from Odessa, Texas, was tragically killed in her home at the 87th Street Apartments on Hunter Miller Way. Officers from the Odessa Police Department responded to reports of shots fired at the complex around 5:45 p.m. Upon entering the residence, authorities discovered a harrowing scene where Rodriguez and two of her children, a 13-year-old daughter and a 9-year-old son, had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
The sudden violence shattered the quiet of the apartment community and launched an immediate homicide investigation.
As detectives pieced together the events leading up to the tragedy, they identified a 15-year-old male as the primary suspect. Investigators learned that the teenager had recently been in a relationship with Rodriguez's eldest daughter, another 15-year-old who was not injured in the attack. According to police statements, the suspect had been upset over a recent breakup and had originally formulated a plan to confront his ex-girlfriend at her school. However, he ultimately altered his course, deciding instead to target her family's home.
