Peter Valentin Moreno-Deschamps, a 33-year-old Hispanic male, was tragically shot and killed on June 3, 2022, in Houston, Texas. The incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. at 9700 Beechnut Street, where Houston Police Department officers responded to a shooting call. Upon arrival, they found Moreno-Deschamps suffering from a gunshot wound in a grassy area near the parking lot of a strip center.
He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital by Houston Fire Department paramedics, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The investigation into the shooting led to the identification of Avanta Donnell Bailey, a 20-year-old male, as a suspect. Bailey was arrested on June 21, 2022, and subsequently charged with murder in the 184th State District Court. The HPD Homicide Division detectives, J. Nguyen and W. Huff, reported that further investigation revealed Bailey's involvement in the fatal shooting. However, the case remains partially unresolved as there is another unidentified suspect who is still at large. The HPD has urged anyone with information regarding the second suspect to contact the HPD Homicide Division or Crime Stoppers.
