On July 22, 2021, 25-year-old Jesus Meza was tragically killed in a mass shooting at Sammie J's Bar and Grill in North Houston. The incident occurred during a benefit event held to honor a shooting victim who had died the previous week. Meza was one of six people shot, and he was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Five other victims, including three men and two women, were also taken to local hospitals. One of the women was in critical condition, while the others were stable.
