On December 19, 2016, 39-year-old Untorio "Bird" Jones was fatally shot at the D-Bar Lounge in Houston's Third Ward. Jones, a special education teacher's assistant at Wisdom High School and father of four, was involved in a verbal and physical altercation with an unidentified man inside the bar around 1:15 a.m. The confrontation escalated when the assailant drew a firearm and shot Jones multiple times in the chest.
