Deputy Marshal Frank Taylor, aged 24, was shot and killed on April 9, 1902, in South Fulton, Tennessee. Taylor encountered a drunken man on College Street who began cursing at him. Taylor warned the man to use better language or he would be taken to jail. In response, the man drew a revolver and shot Taylor several times, resulting in his death.
