In a heart-wrenching incident in Memphis, Tennessee, 4-year-old Ayden Robinson tragically lost his life on June 24, 2019. The young boy was fatally shot in an accidental shooting that occurred at the Pershing Park Apartments in the Frayser neighborhood.
On that tragic day, Ayden and his 3-year-old brother, Jayden, discovered a handgun that had been left unattended in a dresser drawer within their apartment.
While the two young brothers were alone in the room, Jayden accidentally discharged the firearm, striking Ayden. Ayden was rushed to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
The parents of the boys, Precious Wright and Travis Robinson, were overcome with grief. Travis Robinson described his son as a child who was always nice and needed special love and attention, adding that in his eyes, Ayden was still a baby. The family not only had to cope with the devastating loss but also faced the financial burden of arranging a funeral for their young son.
In the aftermath of the shooting, an arrest was made. Nathaniel Wilkins, the boyfriend of Ayden's mother, was taken into custody. Wilkins admitted that the gun belonged to him and that he had left it in a location that was accessible to the children. He was subsequently charged with reckless homicide in connection with Ayden's death.
